Upper part

On this 9-edition of the Clifton, Hoka has used a Jacquard mesh material in the upper. Jacquard mesh provides a luxurious and ventilating feel to your feet. Little has changed compared to the previous model, so that the shoe is now even more comfortable to wear on the foot.

Midsole

The most significant change is that the midsole has been raised by 3mm and the foam has become a bit softer and spongier than before. We have succeeded without the shoe becoming heavier, which is a big plus. The midsole consists of supportive and, not least, shock-absorbing EVA foam throughout the length of the shoe, which gives it a really comfortable feeling to run in. In addition, Hoka’s well-known Meta-Rocker technology helps to give the shoe a rounded sole shape, which complements your foot movement and helps propel you forward. In addition, Hoka’s Active Foot Frame helps to hug your foot, giving you excellent support when you run. This is because your heel and foot actually sit in the midsole instead of on top of it, which is due to the design technique of the Active Foot Frame.

Outer sole

On the outside of the Clifton 9 sits Hoka’s hard-wearing “High-abrasion rubber”, which is a rubber material that both gives very good grip and contributes to good durability. You’ll find most of this rubber in the midfoot, and less of it in the forefoot, which provides flexibility in the right places.
